Combining durable acrylic, stainless steel fixtures, and timeless designs, our statement earrings have strength and spirit.
The materials
We use laser-cut acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)). This is a hard, durable plastic and is often known as Plexiglas, Lucite, and Acrylite. It’s a super lightweight material, so it’s extremely popular for making earrings that don’t weigh you down.
Of course, despite its benefits, it is a plastic and it doesn’t break down well. To counteract this environmental impact, we combine the durable acrylic with unique and timeless designs. So, you can wear your Bashful Designs earrings for years to come or gift them for someone else to reuse or upcycle.
Bashful Designs only uses hypoallergenic, surgical stainless steel for all our earring backs (hooks, posts, hoops, and clip-ons).

Made by hand, worn by ears… for years – with attention to detail and durable, hypoallergenic materials, Bashful Designs earrings love you long-time.
We use off-site laser cutters to cut our acrylic pieces. They make precise, accurate, and fast cuts, which helps reduce the energy consumption and material waste in our production process. Our suppliers are all Melbourne locals and pick up in batches, further helping us reduce our environmental footprint.
All other production and assembly is completed by hand, by us, on site at our HQ in Melbourne. We take great care to produce high-quality earrings and timeless designs so you can wear and love them for years to come. We’re also committed to small-batch, limited production and recycling or upcycling acrylic off-cuts wherever possible to reduce our energy use and material waste.

We take special care to provide accurate descriptions of all products, including materials used, colours, finishes, measurements, and earring hardware options. Our products are also photographed by professionals with proper studio lighting and set-ups to show our products in true form.
Different devices can sometimes show slight colour variations, depending
on your device and its display settings. However, if your order appears vastly
different to our photos on arrival, please contact us here within 7 business days
of receiving your package so we can find a resolution.

Our designs are made to last. But here’s some hot tips to help keep them looking super fresh and fly.
Keep me dry
- Water can damage the acrylic and any special hand-painted elements on our designs.
- Be mindful of exposure to perfumes, essential oils, lotions, hairspray, or cleaning products – some of the chemicals in these products may cause damage or discolouration.
Keep me clean
- Gentle cleaning with a lint-free cloth (e.g. microfibre) will wipe away any dirt of smudges without scratching the materials.
- If you need a little more oomph, simply dampen the cloth with lukewarm water. But avoid rubbing too hard (a little dab’ll do ya!) and don’t mix any harsh or abrasive chemicals with the water (these can scratch the acrylic).
Keep me safe
- Store earrings separately (e.g. in individual pouches or separate jewellery box compartments) to prevent scratches or tangling.
- Avoid sustained exposure to direct sunlight and heat as these can warp of fade the acrylic.
- Acrylic is very durable, but smaller, thinner, more delicate pieces can break if dropped or if too much pressure is applied. Always remove your earrings before going to sleep to prevent accidental damage.

Pierced or not, we’ve got you covered. We offer a variety of earring backs on almost all of our earring designs (wherever physically possible, given the design and size). This includes hypoallergenic, surgical stainless steel clip-ons to hug and protect those non-pierced ears.

If you’re buying from one of our multi-coloured/already mis-matched pairs (like the We Love Love dangles or our Psychedelic, Baby! multi-coloured floral earrings), please let us know which colour/single you want in the notes at checkout.

We believe in fashion done your way. As a small business trying to manage and reduce material waste, we don’t currently do custom orders. But there is some flexibility with our products to help you customise your style.
For most earrings (wherever physically possible, given the design and size), we offer a variety of hardware options – hooks, posts, hoops, or clip-ons.
We also offer the option to buy single earrings for those who:
- Only want to wear one; or
- Want to mix and match our different designs.
To order singles, please use the code INDIVIDUAL at checkout (in the 'Discount ode' field). This code will reduce the cost to 50% of the original pair.
Please note: If you’re buying from one of our multi-coloured/already mis-matched pairs (like the We Love Love dangles or our Psychedelic, Baby! multi-coloured floral earrings), please let us know which colour/single you want. You can add this information in the Order Note section within your Cart review window.

Anywhere your heart desires, my friend! We ship within Australia and overseas.
Please note that, on occasion, some international locations may be unable to receive packages. Australia Post provides and updates details about shipping to international locations on their website. Please check this to ensure you can receive packages at your location before placing your order.
If you place an order and Australia Post then advises Bashful Designs they cannot deliver to your chosen location, we will contact you by email to discuss a resolution (usually, this will be refunding your order, but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis).

Well, it depends. Order amounts and final destinations play a part.

Bashful Designs offers:
- Free standard shipping within Australia for orders over $50.00 (AUD).
- Free express shipping within Australia for orders
over $85.00 (AUD).
Good things also come in smaller packages
We apply flat-rate shipping within Australia. So, if your order doesn’t meet the thresholds for free shipping, you can still get your goodies at a reasonable cost.
Our flat rates for shipping anywhere within Australia:
- Standard shipping $12.00 (AUD)
- Express shipping $20.00 (AUD)

Who doesn’t love an international jaunt?! We also offer standard and express shipping for our overseas customers. The cost for international shipping will be calculated at checkout. This will be based on the country we’re shipping your package to and your chosen shipping option (standard or express).

Good things are just around the corner.
Your package will be shipped from metro Melbourne. Orders shipped within Australia usually take between 2-6 business days with standard shipping and 1-3 business days with express shipping. Please note, deliveries to remote areas often take longer.
International shipping usually takes between 4-25 business days depending on the destination and which shipping option (standard or express) was chosen.

Tracking and updates
When your order is processed and dispatched to Australia Post (usually within 1-2 business days of your order confirmation), we’ll send you an email with a tracking number. While we take extra care to avoid issues, stuff happens, right?! So, if your order arrives damaged, faulty, or missing items, we want to make amends. Please read our full returns and refunds policy for instructions on how to get in touch and how we’ll assess and resolve the issue with you.

We take great care with producing and packaging your goodies to prevent any faults or damage occurring along their journey to you. We’ve also got your covered if things don’t go to plan.

Absolutely! Sustainability is important and we try to take the fast out of fashion in whatever way we can. We love making sure your treasured earrings can be used for years to come. So, we’re happy to provide repair services for a small fee.
Please email elena@bashfuldesigns.com.au with photos and a description of the damage. We’ll assess whether it can be repaired and get back to you within 1-3 business days with next steps.
